Memorial Day: Honor the Day, Savor the Moments

Memorial Day

Memorial Day began after the Civil War as a day to honor fallen soldiers. Originally known as Decoration Day, it was first widely observed in 1868 when families decorated the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers with flowers. Over time, it evolved into a national holiday to remember all who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the United States.

Today, while we enjoy a long weekend with food, family, and sunshine, we pause to honor those we’ve lost—and reflect on the freedoms they helped secure.

At J.L. Hufford, we believe every gathering can be made more meaningful with thoughtful preparation, shared meals, and quality time spent together.
